In the late-night hours, thoughts often twist and turn, creating a storm of emotion. At two in the morning, when silence consumes the world, our hearts demand to be heard. This piece, "LET ME BE HUMAN @ 2:00 AM," is a voice for those who have faced emotional struggles, a reminder that feeling pain is not just acceptable, but essential.
In a society that often celebrates positivity, we must sometimes permit ourselves to acknowledge that hurt exists and that it is okay to express it.
The Weight of Expectations
Before offering platitudes or trying to put a positive spin on my feelings, I ask: can I just be human for a moment? It’s 2 AM, and I feel heavy with unspoken truths.
Heartache deepens silence, amplifying our thoughts. It’s about those moments when being “super sensitive” is not just a description — it’s our lived reality. For instance, studies show that around 61% of people report feeling more emotional at night. I embody that truth, feeling every glance and change in tone, even when I wish I didn’t.
Recognizing the Unspoken
I recognize the signs. When someone doesn’t like me, I can feel it in the air. There’s no need for harsh words; the looks, the quiet, the change in energy say it all. My mind races, my heart feels heavy, and my trust becomes fragile.
When trust starts to dissolve, it’s like sand slipping through my fingers, leaving me holding onto uncertainty. Every moment of silence feels like a point of contention, intensifying the distance from those I once considered close.
BEFORE YOU FLOOD ME WITH BIBLE VERSES OR TOXIC POSITIVITY....
Can I please -just for a moment--
Be human?
at 2:00 in the damn morning?
Let me spew the word vomit
Before I choke on it in silence?
I've been in "SUPER ANTOINETTE" mode.
Not the cute kind.
Not the sunshine-and-smiles kind.
I am talking about the kind of mood
where silence speaks louder than insults--
And energy don't like.
I feel the vibes . I know when im not liked.
No one has to say it.
Your eyes, your exclusion,
Your sudden shfit in tone--
Say. IT. all.
And i hate that i care
but dammit, i do.

My Mind? spinning.
My heart? Heavy.
My trust? on probation.
I am not confrontational--
but the silence around me is screaming .
and it sounds a lot like gossip.
It smells a lot like betrayal.
The Clutches of Isolation
YES, I’M MAD. YES, I’M HURT. The idea of stepping on tiny Lego pieces while seeking solace is relatable and, dare I say, poetic justice.
Being trapped in a rabbit hole of emotions feels bewildering. I crave connection yet retreat into solitude, feeling caught in a cycle that’s difficult to navigate. According to a 2023 survey, 45% of adults reported feeling lonely, with many expressing that their needs for connection go unmet.
It’s hard to swallow that bitter pill of needing others while desiring isolation.
YES! I'M MAD.
YES! I'M HURT.
And the worst thing i could wish for?
is diarrhea during S3X.
on the way to bathroom?
Step on Legos.
Call it petty.
I call it poetic justice.
The Dance with Anxiety
I HATE FEELING LEFT OUT. These emotions feed my anxiety, reminding me that I can easily fade into the background. This paradox is maddening and exhausting.
I want to scream. The emotional chaos leaves me feeling exposed, like a raw nerve laid bare. Yes, hormones might play a role, especially during challenging times. The emotional rollercoaster can turn me from feeling joyful one minute to a disheveled mess the next.
I feel IMPRISONED in a Rabbit Hole made of a quicksand.
Nowhere to run.
No safe friend to turn to.
Everything i say could be used against me.
so, I stay quiet.
Swallowing emotions like poison.
I HATE feeling left out.
IGNORED.INVISIBLE.
It triggers my social anxiety.
Makes me want to disappear--
and beg for someone to notice at the same time.
i want to SCREAM.
SHOUT.CRY.
ALL AT ONCE!
But maybe--just MAYBE--
It is my own Hormones talking.
Perimenopause is a whole trip.
one minute, Im vibing.
The next, I am a wreck in sweats
craving isolaton and a hug at the same time.
WTF is this duality?
Steps Towards Healing
BUT HERE’S WHAT I DID INSTEAD OF BREAKING— I sought out the little joys that life offers. Practicing yoga helped center me. Long showers washed away my heavy thoughts. Family time filled my home with laughter, and simply strolling in the park allowed me to release my frustrations.
Healing isn't linear. It is messy and unpredictable, filled with ups and downs. According to mental health professionals, it takes an average of 2-3 weeks of consistent self-care to notice significant shifts in mental health. I may not be whole yet, but I’m embracing the messiness.
BUT HERE'S WHAT I DID INSTEAD OF BREAKING:
Yoga.
A long shower.
Laughter.
A little journal therapy.
A day at the theme park screaming it out on a roller coaster.
I may not be healed.
But baby, I am healing.

This journey is not about seeking instant solutions; it’s about being honest. It’s acknowledging my humanity and allowing myself to exist in this emotional landscape at 2 AM.
Acceptance of Our Emotions
So here I am, just being Antoinette at 2:00 AM, allowing every emotion to surface. It’s perfectly okay to express these feelings without fear of judgment.
The beauty of vulnerability is in realizing we are not truly alone, even during our darkest hours. By permitting ourselves to accept our complexities—messy, complicated, and all—we take meaningful steps toward healing.
Let yourself feel. Let yourself be. As we navigate through heartache in the stillness of night, may we also find our voices and unite in shared experiences.
Remember, at the end of the day, you are not alone on this journey. Allow yourself the time and space to breathe, express, and ultimately, heal.
SO THIS IS ME..
NOT SEEKING SOLUTIONS.
NOT ASKING FOR SAVING.
Just being honest.
Just being human Antoinette.
at 2:00 A.M.
Trying to feel....
SEEN.
